About the Artist
Kate Kaplan has been making jewelry since 2003. She has
a fresh and unique perspective. Kate has attended William Holland Lapidary
School every summer since 2003. There she studied wire wrapping, chain making,
lampwork bead making, cold connections, glass fusing, and enameling. Her new
work is primarily in copper with enameling and cold connections and dichroic
Kate's work tends towards the whimsical. She combines different techniques in her pieces and frequently uses asymmetry and contrasting colors. She has shown her work in many different shows, winning first place at Inspire! Ballantyne, and Spring into Arts Concord, second place at Art on Main in Ft. Mill, and an honorable mention at a juried show at Mint Hill Arts. She displays her work at Stewart's Village Gallery, 116 McDonald St., Waxhaw, NC, Fast Frame in the Matthews Festival Shopping Center, 1813-400 Matthews Township Parkway, Matthews, NC 28105 and at Orr and Orr Art Studio and Gallery in Matthews Station, in downtown Matthews, NC. Her jewelry has been selected to accessorize the one of a kind hand made dresses by Alice Andrews Designs. Kate does home parties providing a fun activity for a girl's night out.
Kate was formerly the treasurer of Mint Hill Arts, and is a past volunteer coordinator of the Charlotte Art League where she exhibited and sold her jewelry. She lives in Matthews, NC with her daughter, Kayla, son Josh, and husband Alan, who designed this site and is a great Artist Support Spouse.
