About Us
When Winter, Kate Kaplan's child, was just 8 years old, they embarked on a journey of discovery. Kate took them to local festivals, where Winter's eyes were immediately drawn to the mesmerizing sight of geodes being cracked open. This sparked a fascination within the young mind, igniting a desire to delve deeper into the world of precious stones and minerals.
Recognizing this budding interest, Kate promptly enrolled Winter in the Charlotte Gem and Mineral Club, where they could explore and learn alongside like-minded enthusiasts. Kate's own passion for the craft blossomed, and she soon found herself winning a coveted class at the William Holland Lapidary School. There, she immersed herself in the intricate techniques of wire wrapping, chain making, lampwork bead crafting, cold connections, enameling, and glass fusing.
In 2003, Kate's artistic endeavors culminated in the establishment of Kate's Trinkets & Treasures, later known as Kate's TNT. Her current work showcases a delightful touch of whimsy, featuring copper, dichroic glass, and enamel, with a particular focus on creating captivating hair accessories.
